Laparoscopy and Arthroscopy
Fresno Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center is proud to announce to addition of the BioVision Laparoscopy and Arthroscopy unit to our hospital. We are the only hospital in the Central Valley with this new technology and hope it will allow us to better serve our veterinary and non-veterinary community.
Laparoscopy is used routinely in human medicine to decrease post operative recovery time and reduce the amount of pain associated with surgery. In veterinary medicine, we use Laparoscopy for similar reasons. Laparoscopy can be used in place of full abdominal surgeries for biopsies, stomach tacking, spaying, and in many cases in replacement of exploratory surgery. Laparoscopy allows our doctors and surgeons to visualize the abdominal structures through a camera which is placed through an incision no greater than an inch.
Arthroscopy can also be used in lieu of surgery for chronic joint disorders.
In addition to our Laparoscopy and Arthroscopy unit, we now have use of NeedleView and a video otoscope. NeedleView is a 0.9mm camera that can be inserted into the nose or trachea. This allows us to visualize structures that are typically out of our reach. The video otoscope will allow our doctors to record and visually enhance the examination of the nasal passages and ear canal.
